ABC喜剧Ugly Betty season2 ep7的结尾，Bradford Meade心脏病发倒在婚礼的圣坛上，Daniel奔到父亲身边，背景音乐响起，悲伤的Hallelujah。
1984 年，Leonard Cohen也许是在秋日午后撒满落叶的路边长椅上为这首英格兰民谣写下歌词，收入专辑《Various Positions》。然后，包括Bob Dylan在内的N多歌手开始翻唱，再然后，Hallelujah作为背景音乐开始为各种风格的电影电视剧烘托悲伤气氛，Lord of War，Sherk……直到Ugly Betty。问世至今，据说共有45个不同的翻唱版本，而Jeff Buckley，估摸赚取了最多的少女眼泪。北京初冬，俺这个大老爷们痴痴呆呆一遍又一遍听着Leonard Cohen与Jeff Buckley两人的演绎，眼前一片雾霭。
Cohen的原唱版本，哑哑的嗓子粗砺、沧桑，感觉很硬，和声更带来一种空旷的宗教感。再听Jeff Buckley，完全就是一块水晶，敏感、易碎，难怪有人称这是Hallelujah最令人心碎的版本。曲子开头，前奏响起之前会听到一声很无奈的轻叹，忧伤的序言。吉他伴奏下，Jeff轻声吟唱，酸楚的嗓音似乎预示了他的早逝。1997年，30岁的Jeff因车祸死在密西西比河中，"噪海中的纯净 一滴"终归于大河……
Hallelujah，收入Jeff Buckley生前惟一一张专辑，Grace。
